Cheap Art

All cell pics, I was too lazy to look for the camera.

I made this one.

I made this from leftover scrapbook paper from the wedding.

I bought this from Ross.  It's calming and I like the colors.

Pretty things I ate last week

I finally introduced my sister to Paulette's and we bought a dozen of these lovelies. My new favorite is the Earl Grey.

My mom gave me this cantaloupe.  Yeah, it looks like a honeydew melon on the inside!

This is fine dark Kitkat.  It's like a dark dark chocolate.

Souffles are hard.

I was trying to make lemon pudding cakes, but I messed up.  I made lemon souffles instead.  They looked really awesome in the oven.  By the time I found the camera (or R's phone), they were a tad deflated.

Such Fatties We Are

I haven't really been up for blogging lately because the weather sucks, there's no world peace, etc. blah.  I'm just having a few rough months.

But hey, I've been eating well.  I didn't say healthy or cheap.  What can I say? I'm an emotional eater.  I haven't had the due diligence to document these, but my husband has.  I was mostly in the background with fork in hand barking out orders.

Enjoy.

Cupcakes and Macarons!

Crappy cell phone pic. My bad.

Mission Minis - It's too hard for me to pinpoint each flavor.  The website has better pics anyway.  I ordered Aztec chocolate, Swiss almond coconut, double stuff chocolate, and red velvet.  Aztec chocolate was awesome.  Even more awesome is that they have day-old cupcakes for $5/dozen.

Can you believe this pic came from my husband's phone? Jealous.

I had a really bad week.  I needed macarons.  These are from Cocola Bakery.  They're not very significant in taste and are small.  I'd probably only buy Cocola macarons if I were desperate.

So yeah...

I've been feeling too uninspired to blog lately.  Sorry.

Went to LA for 2 days because my mom was feeling down in the dumps.  I offered to drive her anywhere she wanted to go, but I think she really just wanted to spend time with us.

I never noticed in all my trips to LA that most food prices aren’t that bad.  I think it's because of LA's proximity to central California's farms and because the Port of LA makes things a little cheaper.  I didn’t take a camera with me, but I did take lots of cell phone pics.  I’m not sure whether I want to spend my monthly 200 text allowance on uploading them here.  But I ate well. Very well.

And I had a french macaroon ice cream sandwich.  For only $4.50, it's 5x the size of macroons that I buy here!

It's been a while.

I'm going to have to delve into to deep reaches of my memory card for this.  First up, treats!

Paulettes -  (l-r) Caribbean chocolate, sweet wedding almond, Colombian coffee, violet cassis, rose, Sicilian pistachio.

Cups & Cakes - (clockwise from top left) peanut butter, chocolate, green tea, strawberry shortcake, crap-forgot what this one is, red velvet, vanilla, coconut.

Susiecakes - (clockwise from top left) mocha, cherry, coconut, chocolate mint.

My sister and I picked out 3 bottles of wines at CostPlus purely based off the labels and bottle. Guess which ones. We're suckers for good marketing. I mean, who wouldn't buy a bottle of wine shaped like a cat?
